Archaeological project aimed at characterizing the site of As Torres (Tomiño), identified in 2020 by Xurxo Salgado Tejido, journalist, editor, and professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, and characterized by archaeologist, researcher, and professor at the University of Minho, Rebeca Blanco-Rotea.

I VOLUNTEER CAMPUS – AS TORRES

WANT TO PARTICIPATE?

The As Torres Volunteer Camp (Tomiño) invites you to participate in an educational and archaeological project in the heart of the Galician-Portuguese border. During this activity, you will collaborate in the excavation and documentation of the As Torres fortress, a 17th century bulwark, together with the Taborda community forest, the University of Minho and the USC School of Journalism.

What Will You Do?

Catalog and document archaeological remains.

Share the history of the site through open sessions and activities.

Collect local toponymy and connect with community roots.

Complementary Activities

Visits to historical fortresses in Galicia and Portugal.

Kayak route by sea.

Medieval workshops: jewelry creation and bead decoration.
